Driving to Cornerlands

The property is accessed via dirt roads which can make it an uncomfortable drive at times.
There are 2 ways to approach the house from the 247, Old Woman Springs Road, as you come up the hill from 29 Palms Highway.
We would advise you to continue a couple of minutes past Cobalt road and take a left on Skyline Ranch.
The dirt roads approaching this way are in much better condition than on Cobalt so the last couple of minutes ride won’t be so bumpy!

Housekeeping

Food/Condiments/Sauces etc

Please feel free to help yourself to any food that is around in the pantry and cupboards.

Our favourite local food stores, all a couple of minutes drive away are:

Grocery Outlet

Vons

Stater Brothers

Sue’s Health Foods

Things To Do Around Yucca Valley

If you have a look at the Cornerlands listing on AirBnB, you’ll see our Guide Book, and that wil show you some of the plces we have found locally and can recommend.

You’ll also find lots of tips and bits of information in the drawer below the turntable to browse if you need a little inspriration.

Lounge TV

After switching on, wait for a minute or so until screen appears. On the larger remote click on coloured button in centre – see left. It does need a little while to warm up and will tell you to wait, but once it has you can then get all the Smart TV functions – Netflix, You Tube, Amazon Prime etc

TV in Master and Middle Bedrooms

As long as you are connected to our wifi – dlink – 03EO – you can stream all your music and videos onto either of these TV’s.

Just ensure you use only apps and not browsers. Look for the square icon with the rays at bottom left, shown in the top right of the image below, on your device to pair with the TV.  Also, ensure the TV is on HDMI1 via ‘source’ button on remote if it doesn’t look right.

THE TURNTABLE

To use turntable switch on power and select PHONO. Use lever to raise and lower needle onto the vinyl

The turntable also functions as a bluetooth stereo. Just switch to BT and look for  ‘Vintage Turntable’ on your device. The speakers are inbuilt so need a little empathy!

The Fireplace

Here is a short how-to video, as the remote can seem a bit complicated at first.

The top power switch powers up the screen.

The thermometer button can be On, Off or Smart setting.

CEILING FANS/LIGHTS

These work in conjunction between wall switches and fan

remotes. If you have trouble getting a light on (esp. in the

bedrooms, try the remote first!)

WEDNESDAY MORNING TRASH COLLECTION!

Pick-up is early Wednesday morning, so if you are staying on a Tuesday night it would help us very much if you’d take the

bins to the road side – many thanks

AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING

There are 2 touch screen controls one upstairs and one downstairs. They are touch-screen EcoBee brand, and allow you to set different temperatures for upstairs and downstairs. Please note

that although you can choose two different temperatures, the system is not capable of heating and cooling at the same time, so please set both to either heat or cool. If one is set to heat and one is set to cool, it will overload the system and it will not function properly. We can adjust this remotely if you would like.

First Aid Kit

Found in middle drawer, right hand side of dishwasher

Blackout Kit

Found in the pantry, lower shelf

Patio Doors

Please keep these or the screens closed at all times.  There are many critters out here who may like to pay you a visit, and we’d rather they didn’t!

Security Camera

We have one security camera outside in the carport area

Smoking

You will find an ashtray in the pantry – no smoking in the house please!

Walking the Area

If you are interested in walking in this area, please observe the boundary map by the front door downstairs. Whilst walking it is always recommended to stick to the dirt roads rather than walking over unmarked paths, as all these are private property.  You may be lucky enough to see some of the animals and birds in the photos above, and please be aware that this is snake country, so be careful where you tread!

The Pool

The pool is solar heated and the temperature will depend on sunlight and time of year.

To uncover the pool you will need to locate the keypad which is just inside the gate to your right . Hit 1, 2, 3, 4, the check mark and then OPEN. To close do the same but hit the CLOSE button. Please take it slow opening the cover so as not to get it jammed down at the end. Also please close cover whenever you leave the pool area. If there is water on top of the cover please DO NOT operate it, as this will cause damage.

Please contact us and we will address the issue.

Pool maintenance is done on Thursday or Friday mornings by Matt and Jo. It doesn’t take long once they are here.

The Spa

The remote is kept inside the house with the pool key.

To view this short how-to video, click here or the video below:

The spa is heated via the jets, so turn the jets on 10-15 minutes before getting in. Please close the cover whilst heating the spa.

Although there are many buttons on the control, you need only use 2!

1. TURN ON POWER TO SCREEN WITH ‘MENU’ BUTTON – CENTRE – GREEN LIGHTS COME ON

2. TURN ON SPA WITH ‘SPA’ BUTTON – TOP RIGHT

3. SWITCH OFF USING SPA BUTTON – GREEN LIGHT GOES OFF

4. IF POWER LIGHT GOES OUT PRESS MENU AGAIN

Pergola

Please leave the pergola shade closed as it gets really windy here!

Check Out

This is 11am. Please respect these times as our cleaners plan their day by them.

BEFORE DEPARTURE:

Before you leave we would really appreciate it if you would:

• Place all dirty dishes in dishwasher and start the load, (please do not put any plastic items in the lower rack, only in the top rack)

• Please ensure pergola cover is closed and all screen doors are closed

• Place your trash in the bins behind the house.

AND HAVE A VERY

SAFE TRIP HOME !
